The 8 Question Test: Is the FurEver Care Plan the Right Choice for You?

The 8 Question Test:  Is the FurEver CareTM Life & Estate
Management Plan
the Right Choice for You?

While the FurEver CareTM Life & Estate Management Plan is the perfect answer for most
Pet Owners, there are exceptions to almost everything, and so it's reasonable to assume
that there is a small minority of Pet Owners for whom the FurEver CareTM Plan may not
be the best choice.  To determine if the FurEver CareTM Plan is the right choice for you,
we offer the following 8 questions as a diagnostic tool.  If your answer to any of the
following questions is "No," then there is a high probability that the FurEver CareTM Plan
is the right choice for you.

Question #1:  Do you have a plan and financial provisions in place to make sure that
your pets are well-cared for if something unexpected should happen to you?  For example,
if you experienced car trouble while on a day trip so that you couldn't return home that day
as planned, OR if you were involved in an accident or suffered a sudden illness that
required you to be hospitalized for a few days (or a few weeks), OR if you became
disabled (whether temporarily or on a long term basis), OR if any other circumstance arose
that interfered with your normal ability to care for your pets - do you have a plan (and the
necessary funds) in place to make sure that your pets continue to be well-cared for during
that time?

Question #2:  Assuming that you have chosen an individual to care for your pets in
the event of your death (every Pet Owner should do this), do you know for certain that
your Pet Caregiver will survive you AND your pets?

Question #3:  Do you know for certain that your Pet Caregiver will always be able to
give your pets the care that you would want them to have?  For example, are you certain
that he/she will always be able to maintain a living situation that will facilitate the well-being
of your pets?  Furthermore, are you certain that your Pet Caregiver will always be healthy
enough to care for your pets?

Question #4:  Given the difference between the terms "willing" and "able," do you
know for certain that - even if your Pet Caregiver is always "able" to care for your pets,
that he/she will also always be "willing" to do so?  Are you certain that no unforeseen
factors (new relationships, changing jobs, potential moves, etc.) will emerge in their life at
some point that may cause them to no longer be "willing" to care for your pets?

Question #5:  Do you know for certain that your Pet Caregiver will never fall into a
financial situation where he/she is being pursued by creditors?  Any funds that you leave
directly to the Pet Caregiver for the care of your pets would be vulnerable to creditors if
he/she were forced to default on debts.  Given the current instabilities in our economy,
even wealthy individuals may find themselves suffering an unexpected financial setback
that may result in seizure of the funds left in their care - so this question should be
weighed heavily.

Question #6:  Do you know for certain that none of your heirs will have any
"heartburn" with the provisions you make for your pets upon your death - to the point
where they may attempt to challenge your Will?

Question #7:  Are you in default on any unsecured debts?  (Trust assets are
vulnerable to your creditors during your lifetime, and in some circumstances, may be
vulnerable to creditors for a period of time after your death.)

Question #8:  Do you anticipate that you may need to apply for Medicaid benefits
within the next few years?  (Trust assets are countable resources for determining Medicaid
eligibility, wherein as of 2011, a 5-year "look-back rule" applies.)

The Findings:  Most Pet Owners, after honest evaluation of their situation,
answer "No" to at least 6 of the 8 questions, which strongly suggests that the
FurEver CareTM Life & Estate Management Plan is the right choice for them.
However, if a Pet Owner answers "No" to even 1 of the 8 questions, that is an
indication that the FurEver CareTM Plan should be explored as an option for
serious consideration.
